Cummer • Carlin • Crone

Whilst out alone on bicycle or foot, I form connections between things seen and unseen, searching for, and accumulating bits and bobs that speak of memory, place and time passing.

A hag stone collected by my mum for luck; a fungal warning of evil spirits in Epping Forest; cloth clouds of slime – a manifestation of spirit communication; graveyard connectors to the heavens and experimental listening devices; the Neolithic rocks of witches and spinsters.

These pertinent items combine to form three paintings that symbolise my transition to Crone. Both celebratory and apprehensive they draw upon folklore, the natural and the supernatural to reflect upon and absorb the changes occurring.
